In recent independent studies conducted by Brunswick Laboratories, the powder from the moringa tree leaves registered a higher ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score than any other food on the list. What is ORAC?

The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity unit (or ORAC value or score) is a measurement of antioxidants in foods and supplements that was developed by the National Institute on Aging in the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Antioxidants are essential nutrients that help slow the aging process and lower the risk of many health disorders by combatting cellular damage caused by free radical activity. Experts believe that antioxidant-rich foods with higher ORAC values are more effective at neutralizing free radicals and reducing the damage they cause, compared with foods with lower ORAC scores.

What are Free Radicals?

Free radicals are extremely unstable molecules that are missing one electron. In order to stabilize, free radicals steal vital electrons from other cells in the body. This causes corrosion of cellular membranes, damage to DNA, altered biochemical compounds, oxidation and cell death.

What Causes Free Radicals?

  1. Higher the value of ORAC in food the more beneficial the food is for the health. People are not aware of Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity of the fruits and vegetables otherwise they won't find any reason not to eat only the food rich in high ORAC value.
